Annual Smoke Detector Battery Replacement Program

One of the many wonderful benefits Addison has to offer to its residents is the Annual Smoke Detector Battery Replacement Program. Each year in October, our firefighters visit single family dwelling homes in Addison to replace old smoke detector batteries with new batteries.

During our visit, residents may elect to have a home inspection, which allows for our firefighters to conduct a brief walk-through to indicate any signs of fire hazards.

Single family dwelling residents should expect to receive their letter from the Fire Chief in September with instructions for scheduling. The Fire Department provides the batteries and a ladder (if necessary). This service is provided at no charge to the resident, but must be scheduled. Due to liability, we do not install smoke detectors.
